It's no secret that Cindy Abel is one of my least favorite people. This Atlanta woman has done many things to piss me off over the last few years including jumping on the Atlanta Bid bandwagon after I called her the c-word. I have known Cindy for many years and could not believe she would do such a thing.

Cindy is a very visible person in the Atlanta community and there have been questions of why. Some people claim she is a marketing guru but I don't see the clients to back this up. Outwrite and GABC don't count. And Cindy is involved with the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau - a contract she secured with the help of Cathy Woolard and Mayor Shirley Franklin. That gay Atlanta web site is lacking.

Cindy is always dogged by rumors and innuendo concerning her leadership (or lack thereof) at Georgia Equality Project.

The subject of Cindy Abel came up in my mind again when I got a press release concerning Hoops Week. Cindy is very involved with the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund (she must have some money). The press release was laughable because Cindy had her usual circle of sponsors and people involved. She must be an investor in Southern Voice - and bizvov is her marketing company. The really funny part was highlighting Dr. Barbara Rubin - her partner. (She failed to mention that part!)

It's amazing to see Cindy Abel rise from the ashes in true Atlanta style. She couldn't have been lower when she was fired from Georgia Equality Project and with the help of Cathy Woolard and her money, has pulled herself up to become one of the so-called "Atlanta elite" in the LGBT community.
