RE: Lieberman hypocrisy on Yahoo! Groups gaysfordean

I think it's ridiculous to be tearing down Senator Lieberman for
doing a good thing. It may be timed for the election but the LGBT
community benefits and that's what counts.

Just because Mr. Cutler is an avid supporter of Howard Dean is no
reason for his attitude and does take into account the big and long-
range picture.

Mr. Culter also said: "He also knows that DOMA is unconstitutional
based on the US Constitution's "Full Faith and Credit" Clause."

Does this mean Lieberman knew this, too?

Most people know DOMA for what is was - an attempt by Republicans to
gain ammunition against "liberal" supporters of gay rights in the
elections. I don't hold it against any politician or President
Clinton for voting for DOMA since it was such a waste of time since
the "law" will eventually be proved unconstitutional one day. (Don't
forget all those state DOMAs, too.)

I THANK Senator Lieberman for picking up the work of the late Senator
Wellstone and hope everyone running for office does the same to help
the LGBT community. I say pander!

AND there is no need to tear him down in the process!

Tom Dempsey

PS In the end, you really can't beat Howard Dean's civil union
achievement.
