Atlanta Pride, Boy Scouts, Delta, Coors and LGBT

I recently read a story in Southern Voice (http://www.southernvoice.com/2003/7-25/news/localnews/deltascouts.cfm) about Delta being the official airline of Atlanta Pride and days later Delta began promoting the Boy Scouts in its “SkyWish Charity of the Quarter.”

This brings to mind Atlanta Pride and Coors. Coors has been a sponsor of Atlanta Pride for years, and yet, their family "foundations" support very right-wing activities and anti-gay actions.

What's the difference???

Atlanta Pride will take money from any corporation without regard to the social LGBT consequences!!! I can not say this clearly enough!!!

What SoVo says rings true:

>But while efforts to cut funding to the Scouts are widespread on the West Coast,
>in the Northeast, and even in parts of Florida, they haven’t gained steam in Atlanta, where
>corporate, civic and government groups continue to support the youth organization to
>little public outcry from gays.

Do we not care? I haven't seen it!

>Supporting the Boy Scouts while also supporting gay events like Pride festivals
> sends “a mixed message,” according to a gay Delta employee.

>“We see the duplicity of their effort, and to us it is a slap in the face,” said the gay
> employee, who asked that his name not be published. “I think Delta is playing
> everything on both sides of the fence. They are still donating charity to the Boy
> Scouts to appease the right-wingers who want to maintain discrimination.”

So does Coors!
