Memorial: Charles "Chuck" Tolbert
Today is September 2, 2003 and that means its been 10 years since Chuck Tolbert passed away. Chuck was the best friend I ever had.I wanted to share this with the world since I loved Chuck so much.
There has never been a person in the world that touched me more than Chuck. He was a very attractive and intelligent person and an artist. He had a very close family and a great many friends in Atlanta and Columbia, SC.
Chuck and I met in 1984 and immediately because partners. We had a rough relationship but moved to Atlanta together and we became the closest of friends after we broke up. He taught me about art and life - and I emulated every part of him.
Oddly, I saw Chuck in the hospital a few days before he passed because I was going to Pensacola for Labor Day weekend. I had no idea he would be gone when I got back. (I always take notice the phone booth in Pensacola where I was told by a friend Chuck passed away.)
Sadly, his parents held the funeral a few days later and I wasn't present to get closure. They could not locate me.
I can't believe its been 10 years since he passed away. I can remember so many details of him like it was yesterday.
