SoVo: Braves relationship with gays uneven

I love Chris Seely and read his story on the Braves and baseball with interest.

However, I have to make a point that Mr. Seely did not dig deep enough in the reason the "Gay Night" at the Atlanta Braves has become a failure.

Margie Archer is quoted in Southern Voice:

>Gay fans joined together to attend a Braves game in 2001 and ’02,
>but a lack of interest deterred organizers from putting on the event
>this year, said Margie Archer, co-chair of Atlanta Games, Inc., which
>led an unsuccessful bid to bring the 2006 gay games to Atlanta.
>“There weren’t a lot of people that wanted to organize,” Archer said.

Well, no, there aren't people who want to organize "with Atlanta Games, Inc." since they screwed up the bid for the 2006 Gay Games and lost.

I believe there is an opportunity to organize the LGBT community and have successful "Gay Nights" at the Braves if someone is willing to step up to the plate. No one wants to be associated with losers like AGI and some other local Atlanta group has a chance here to do good. (I nominate YouthPride.)
