SoVo: Backstreet prepares for sale

It is sad to see Backstreet closing after all these years but expected. Midtown is so straight now and the club scene is dead and dying in Atlanta.

I first stepped foot into this Atlanta institution in 1982 and worked there for a while in 1984. It was a truly amazing club back then especially for a small-town boy from South Carolina.

I spent many, many fun nights at Backstreet and will definately pick up a floor tile for a momento to save with my "Cove" brick.

Goodbye, Backstreet. It was great!

The dance floor on which countless gay men and lesbians have partied around the clock for almost three decades is being broken into one-foot squares and sold for $20 each.
